At Expiry, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve our smart coupon and expiration management services:
- Account Information: When you sign in (via Email, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple), we collect your email address and authentication identifier to create and sync your account.
- Coupon & Receipt Data: Information you input manually or scan using OCR, such as merchant names, coupon descriptions, discount values, expiration dates, barcodes, and images.
- Camera & Photo Access: With your permission, we access your device camera or photo library to scan barcodes and process receipt images for text recognition (OCR).
- Local Storage: Your coupon data is cached locally on your device using encrypted/secure local storage for offline access.
- Notification Tokens: Device notification identifiers used solely to send you local and push notifications for coupon expiration alerts.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information strictly for the following purposes:
- To provide, manage, and personalize your coupon and expiration reminders.
- To process receipt images using Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
- To synchronize your data across your signed-in devices via cloud storage.
- To send timely expiration reminders and notifications.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
3. Data Processing & Third-Party Services
We work with trusted third-party service providers to power key features of Expiry:
- Supabase: Used for secure user authentication, database management, and cloud synchronization.
- Google Generative AI (Gemini): Used to analyze receipt/coupon images for OCR text extraction. Images sent for processing are processed securely and not used to build public user profiles.
- Apple / Google OAuth: Used solely to verify your identity during sign-in.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties or advertising networks.
4. Data Retention & Account Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active. You have full control over your data:
- Delete Coupons: You can edit or delete individual coupons at any time inside the app.
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated cloud data directly from the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or by contacting our support team. Account deletion permanently purges your data from our servers.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption in transit and Row-Level Security (RLS) policies in cloud storage, to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.
6. Children's Privacy
Expiry is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
