START WITH THE ORIGINAL
A reminder needs the right date.
Before scheduling anything, compare your saved coupon's expiry date with the original email, voucher or gift card. Check any valid-from date, minimum spend and online or in-store restrictions too.
Recognition helps fill in details, but it can read dates incorrectly. Correct the saved entry first. A reminder does not extend the validity of a code or confirm a shop will accept it.
STEP BY STEP
Not just one day before.
- Open a saved coupon, voucher or gift card with an expiry date in Expiry.
- Tap Reminders in its details.
- Choose Custom date & time, then pick a Date and Time. You can also adjust these fields below the quick options.
- Choose a future time. For an item with an expiry date, the reminder date must be on or before that date.
- Tap Add Reminder and allow notifications if prompted. Look for Reminder saved and check the scheduled entry.
Quick choices such as three days before, one day before and the same day are shortcuts, not the only available dates. You can edit an existing reminder's date and time or remove one you no longer need.
For a coupon that expires on Friday, Wednesday evening might give you time to plan a shop. The dates above are an example, not a guarantee about a retailer's closing time.
MAKE THE REMINDER VISIBLE
Give notifications permission.
If Expiry asks for notification access, allow it. If you previously declined, check Expiry's notification settings on your iPhone and enable the notifications you want to receive.
Focus modes and Scheduled Summary can affect when alerts are shown. If a reminder seems missing, check those settings as well as the saved date and time in Expiry. No app can guarantee you will notice every notification.
Don't rely on a same-day alert for a shop with an earlier closing time. Keep some room to act before the actual deadline.
WHEN IT IS TIME TO SHOP
Open the code you saved.
Return to the item's details to show its barcode or QR code, or use Copy Code for an online promo code. Check the retailer's original conditions before redeeming it.
Once redeemed, use Mark as Used to keep your wallet organized. For a gift card, check the remaining balance with the retailer: Expiry does not verify redemption or fetch live balances.
Some vouchers and cards have no stated deadline. Keep that field unset when appropriate; only describe an expiry reminder when you know the actual date.
Can I choose a specific time instead of a preset?
Yes. Open Reminders and choose Custom date & time. The Date and Time fields are editable; the quick options are only shortcuts.
Can I remind myself about a gift card?
Yes, for a gift card with an expiry date. Check the date against the issuer's terms, save it, then set a reminder in the card's details. A card without an expiry or start date does not show the Reminders button.
Why is Add Reminder unavailable?
Check that the selected time is in the future, the reminder date is not after expiry, and there is not already a reminder at the same time. An expired item cannot have a new expiry reminder.
Does a reminder make an expired coupon valid?
No. Only the retailer's terms determine whether a coupon or card can be used.
What should I check if I don't see an alert?
Check the scheduled entry in Expiry and notification access on your iPhone. Focus and Scheduled Summary may affect the visibility or timing of notifications.
